The Palos Fine Arts Association is offering $700.00
scholarships in the following two categories for the 2012 season. These
scholarships are offered to high school students in their junior or senior year
or to teachers in the following areas of interest: music, visual arts, theater,
creative writing or dance. APPLICATION

Criteria
Applicant must be a junior or Senior in High School, residing within the
boundaries of High School Districts 230 or 218
Applicant must attend Stagg, Sandburg, Andrew, Shepard, Chicago Christian,
Marist, Mother McCauly, Mt. Assisi, Brother Rice, Providence or be home
schooled
Scholarship is to be used to further an interest or study of the arts
Multiple scholarships are available
in this category.
DONNA O’BRIEN $700.00 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria
Applicant must be an educator who resides or works within the boundaries of
High School Districts 230 or 218

Applicant must be a Junior or Senior in high school, residing within the
boundaries of High School Districts 230 or 218
Scholarship is to be used to further his or her education in the arts
-----OR-----
Scholarship is to be used to produce a special school project relating to
the arts
***Recipient must attend a regular meeting of the Palos Fine Arts Council to
share his or her experience from the use of the scholarship
One scholarship is available in this
category.
APPLICATION INFORMATION
Applications must be postmarked no later than April 13, 2012. Incomplete
applications will not be processed. For more information call 448-0425.
The application should consist of an essay of 1000 words or less including the
following:
Who the applicant is—brief history
What are your goals for this educational experience
When will the class or workshop be held and if applicable, when will the
project be completed (the O’Brien Scholarship)
Where will the class or workshop be held
Why are you motivated to attend the class or workshop
The application must include
evidence of applicant’s art material in the form of a CD, tape, slides, audio or
manuscript to be reviewed by the scholarship committee. Materials will not be
returned.
